Hello Sudzers! Our next meeting will be held at 4:00pm this Sunday, September 3rd at Steins Beer Garden in Mountain View.

As a reminder, club dues are collected on a calendar year basis. Becoming a paid member gets you a discount at MoreBeer in Los Altos, as well as access to the special members-only events we do through the year.

Agenda:
– Derek W. will have Polo shirts to distribute!
– NCHF is just a few weeks away, so we’ll spend some time discussing it, Hoppy Hour, etc. Also, if you’re attending NCHF, please make sure you enter your information in https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Y2L_JBTKQFy_0yLsXnDx_b1Hf6e3f8jjxyuJJLUWCM/edit#gid=0
– Reminder that judges are needed for the upcoming competitions announced on the mailing list. Also, we need volunteers for Stanford’s beerfest.
– Off-flavor of the month session
– Homebrew evaluations. Remember, bring your recipe – club members will have lots of questions! Sign in your beer along with your name and statistics (IBU, ABV, etc.). The info is optional, but helpful in determining tasting order.

Sudzers July 2017 meeting notes

In July’s meeting, we welcomed two new members, discussed NCHF, and then tasted twelve delicious brews. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Business:

– Welcome Christy and Jay to the Sudzers!
– This year’s Northern California Homebrewers Festival (NCHF) is September 15-16. Tickets go on sale Sunday, July 16 at 10:00am and Saturday, July 22 at 10:00am. See http://www.nchfinfo.org/ for more info. Thanks, Steve C. for volunteering to be the event coordinator!
– Derek sent out a spreadsheet to keep track of who’s going and what everyone’s bringing. Please fill it out if you plan on attending: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Y2L_JBTKQFy_0yLsXnDx_b1Hf6e3f8jjxyuJJLUWCM/edit?usp=sharing
– We’re pouring again this year at Hoppy Hour. Last year we went through around 40 gallons of beer, so we need beer! Hoppy Hour beers are typically 6% and less, so start thinking about what you want to brew.
– We’re looking for volunteers to help organize and judge the Santa Clara County Fair Homebrew competition this Summer. Reach out to Steve H. at Stephen.Hutzler@power.com if you’d like to volunteer. The main judging event is this Saturday, July 15.

– Jenn and Marc-Andrey are organizing a Berkeley-area pubcrawl on Saturday, July 8th. More details to follow.
– We had eleven brews entered into the Anchor Steam Clone/California Common competition. All of them were delicious, but the following stood out. Congratulations to all winners, and thank you, Mike from Anchor, for helping judge and giving us a history lesson on Anchor Brewing!

After the competition, we sampled six more beers, but unfortunately, the spreadsheet is gone, so the details of the brews are missing. However, thanks to the homebrewers who brought the Vienna Lager, Tripel, White IPA, Stout, Coffee Stout, and Mexican Stout.
