Info for NCHF attendees

For those attending the Northern California Homebrewers Festival the weekend of September 18, please join the Google Group for communications about the festival. Add your contact information, as well as beers, food, and gear you plan to bring to the Google Doc so that we can plan the booth and make sure we have enough taps available. The theme this year is Prohibition, and a small planning group headed by Steve Hutzler (NCHF chair) and Mike Conant (Chief Events Officer) have been working on a theme for the club presence.

August Meeting Notes

The hospitality of the staff of Stein’s was fantastic, and we hope to meet there again in September. We were in a large private back room near the kitchen for August, but are looking at the smaller private room for September – less capacity but also less ambient noise. We’re planning on continuing meetings on the first Sunday of each month at 4, but are tentatively planning on meeting September 13 (2nd Sunday) to avoid the Labor Day weekend. More information forthcoming once confirmed.

Club members who attended the North Bay Bus Trip reported having an excellent time, some great beers at some lesser-known breweries, and a lot of face to face time with brewers and owners.

Thirsty Third Thursdays:
August 20 meetup will be at the newly remodeled Campbell Brewing Company (formerly Sonoma Chicken Coop in downtown Campbell). They have tasty bbq and a solid guest tap list, and their first house-brewed beers just went on tap this week. September 17 meetup will be at East Coast Alice, a new upscale diner with, as you might imagine, some east coast food specialties. They have about 10 taps of interesting craft brews and a nice patio in Downtown Saratoga.

Homebrew tastings:

Steve Hutzler brought a brett Gravenstein apple cider from a local
producer called Rider Ranch
Adam C’s Hefeweizen
Rich’s Perfect Kolsch
Derek W’s Tasty Waves Hoppy Blonde Ale
Derek W’s Kottbusser (alt with honey, molasses, and oats)
Rob C’s El Dorado & Motueka Pale Ale
Jim W’s Ron Mexico Pale Ale
Jim W’s Smokin’ Chipotle Robust Porter
Paul’s Simcoe & Columbus IIPA
