Sudzers July 2024 meeting notes

For our July meeting, we discussed this year’s club brew and other topics. Then we tasted four great homebrews. Thanks to Stein’s and everyone who showed up.

– Club brew: It’s still slated for early in the Fall. The recipe will be the biere de Noel we brewed the previous year. We will need members to provide two or three brewing systems to brew 15 gallons. Allen said he could host the brew session again at his house, but that other people would have to bring their brewing systems and take their fermentors home. There was some discussion about whether we would want to hold back several bottles/cans over the course of a couple of years in order to be able to have a vertical tasting of different batches. Some wondered if this beer (a kind of biere de garde) would hold up more than two years. Then there was some discussion about finding out how many members still had old bottles of Dark Matter and that it would be interesting to have a vertical tasting of those.

– Admiral Maltings tour: Stephan tried to contact them about a tour but didn’t have any luck. He will try again.

– Other business: The Worts of Wisdom sent an email asking if any Sudzers were interested in attending a potluck picnic they are holding in Sunnyvale on August 10. There was some interest, so Robert will let them know that they can send the Sudzers a link to the signup sheet. Robert will forward this on the Sudzers members email list. We also talked about the possibility of doing a barrel aging project; we would need a good place to store a barrel if we were to do this.
